Where is the Cardiologist Job Market Heading?

The cardiology industry's demand for services and physician placements has generally followed the overall medical field (when compared to PCP specialties).

Looking at the past five years of cardiologist search and recruitment activities shows a slight downtrend, which could be a sign of job satisfaction or weakening demand.

Cardiology 101 : What Does a Cardiologist Do?

Cardiologists are licensed M.D. residency trained physicians who work to prevent, diagnose, and treat diseases of the cardiovascular system. There are two main categories of treatment and services - invasive and non-invasive treatments. An invasive cardiologist will perform surgical procedures. A non-invasive cardiologist will diagnose and examine patients for cardiovascular system ailments. Cardiologists also work towards rehabilitating patients who have recently undergone heart trauma or cardiovascular surgery.
